DriftCon Afterdark will be held on September 29, 2018 from 3pm to 10pm at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. This event is combined with round 5 of the Evergreen Drift ProAm series.

The Drift Games, Team Tandem, and Tandem Mayhem at DriftCon Afterdark will run throughout the day and night of the event. This part of the event is supposed to be entirely for fun. We want drivers to experience styles of drifting that they are not able to do in standard competition. Since it will be held after the ProAm competition in theory drivers should have nothing to lose. Drivers are encouraged to give ride-alongs (only passengers who have signed the waiver) and have a great time at the last large drifting event of the year!

TEAM TANDEM SHOWOFF

We’ve heard your requests, and we’ve added a short Team Tandem challenge; an hour long (8:45 to 9:45) judged run group on a cageless layout. Teams of 3 -5 will take turns making as many runs as possible. This is a non-elimination challenge and all runs will be taken into consideration; the Judges will select a single team at the end of the day to be awarded.

This is a “Team Exhibition” style competition – meaning there are no brackets or eliminations. Teams will stage up for a cageless layout and will proceed to run AS TEAMS ONLY (no solo driving) in an open drift fashion. Think of it as a team only run group.

  • Timely stage up on turn 4 of the 3/8ths for the cageless layout.
  • A specific amount of time will be allotted for TEAMS ONLY.
  • Understand that ALL runs during this session will be judged, and only a single team will be crowned the winner based on overall impression.
  • Passing is discouraged. Teams should stay in order from start to finish.
  • Drivers should not straighten up or make severe corrections.
  • There will be no “restarts” or “do-overs” for teams.
  • A single backup / reserve driver may be selected from the pre-paid open drivers.
  • Proximity is EVERYTHING.

Note: No cash prize will be awarded in this competition. Simply register for $65 below and input your team name after you select Team Tandem Showoff.

TRACK RIVALS: GRASSROOTS VS. PROAM

A new game at DriftCon Afterdark was devised by “Danger Ben Whyte” and it will be clash of the classes. A team of Grassroots drivers will compete against a team of seasoned ProAm drivers.  A total of 10 drivers will compete and 5 battles will be held. In the end, whichever team has most wins takes the cake.

We will reach out to drivers in both series before the event. Each set of drivers should at least be in the top 8 standings of their respective series.  The driver list for both teams will be announced the Friday before the event.

Prior to the drivers meeting we will randomly determine the order of Grassroots drivers competing. These drivers will then go in order and choose which ProAm driver they will compete against – basically a callout. The layout will be determined during the drivers meeting and will favor style over horsepower and car setup.

Additional name draws will be made to create a “reserve list”. The reserve drivers will take over whichever battles the original driver drops from.

This is NOT a bracket elimination. A total of 5 battles to take place after ProAm competition has finished. One More Times are possible and tire changes will be allowed in the event they happen and drivers need fresh tires.

*Cageless layout variant to be determined by majority vote at drivers meeting.

BIG ENTRY CONTEST

A favorite from last year is returning! For drivers who are bold and brazen with speed and style, this competition is for you. Drivers will stage on the 3/8ths bank and make an attack down the front stretch past the start/finish line and the grandstands, passing the media box and making a big entry (fast, high angle, backwards) into the first turn around the light pole

  • Once cleared and sent, a driver will make his approach down the main straight – speed is up to the driver.
  • Driver has open choice of how they wish to initiate, the faster and more aggressive the better.
  • Drivers will get as many runs as we can fit in the allotted time – the driver with the best entry wins the contest.
  • Must hold and maintain the drift and finish through the infield.
  • Exit on access road and get back in line.
  • A certain amount of time will be allotted to Big Entry Contest, and drivers can get back in line for as many runs during that timeframe as possible.

3/8 HOT-LAPPING / TANDEM MAYHEM

DriftCon Afterdark is bringing back a short period of hot-lapping on the 3/8 bank. Due to the excess speeds and skill required to link the entire track constantly, this will be reserved for CAGED seasoned drivers only. Of all of the portions of the exhibition events this is the one that time limit will be determined by time available. If ProAm competition goes late, the time allotted for this will be reduced.

  • Drivers will stage up on the tail end of the 5/8th’s bank in single or double file line.
  • This will be treated like a “HOT OPEN TRACK LAPPING SESSION”.
  • Drivers will safely merge on track only at appropriate moments as directed by the grid starter.
  • Drivers MUST follow the standard classic layout while linking as much of the track as possible.
  • DO NOT STOP YOUR CAR TO WAIT OR HOLD FOR OTHER DRIVERS. Instead, finish your lap, pull off, and reset on the 5/8th’s staging with your partner.
  • Drivers can continue to hot lap as long as they please. Please do not drive down to the wire treads and pop. We don’t want to wait for you to limp off track.
  • EVD will determine the number of cars allowed to be hot-lapping at any single time.
  • EVD officials reserve the right to remove any driver from the hot-lapping group if they feel the driver is unsafe and or putting others at risk.
